Hello, We are Jimmie & Denise Barnard. We hope you have enjoyed our site. While we are "Breeders"and have an AKC inspected kennel, we are not what one would usually depict as a "kennel". We live in a rural area and we do not contain our dogs (all are beloved "pets") in kennels, on concrete, with runs. They all enjoy their own fenced yards with houses and lots of shade and trees. These yards belong to them. They are allowed to run, play, snooze and dig holes to their little hearts desires. During the summer, all our pets enjoy their own swimming pools (wadeing pools from WalMart- cost about $10.00), a definate MUST here in Texas. Our puppies are whelped inside our home, in a nursery set up for them. Smaller breeds remain primarily inside untill their 16 weeks old (if they haven't sold by then, which usually they are). Weather permitting, they go into "day use only" puppy yards with mommy, then back inside before nightfall. Larger breeds are moved outdoors (weather permitting) at about 5 or 6 weeks of age, to there own puppy yards, where they remain with Mommy untill they are naturally weaned. This gives all our babies the much needed puppy socialization that only a mother can provide, and a better, healthier start on life before they go to their new families. We DO NOT let people take our puppies at 4 to 6 weeks old, as many people wish and many breeders do. We prefer that our babies not leave our home untill they are 8 weeks old or older (10 to 12 weeks is much prefered), for their benefit, as well as their new families. We view our Pets as family members and treat them with Kindness, Respect and Love. All of our pets are current on all vaccinations, in excellent health and kept free from parasites (fleas, ticks, heartworms, etc.) When they travel with us, they are inside the vehichle or in kennel crates, NEVER loose in the bed of the truck (which is illegal in Texas, as of September 2002). They are contained in fenced yards to keep them safe and to respect others in the neighborhood. Not anyone will qualify to own one of our puppies. We are very paticular about the homes they will go to. Information we get through Email and personal telephone conversatation with perspective buyers helps us to place the right pup with the right family. For example: the little blue puppy you want may not be the best choice for the "cuddle bug" you desire, but the little red pup would be perfect. Our job as breeders is to place our pups into "well matched" homes which also makes their new families happier too! We DO NOT sell to "brokers" or "pet stores!" Breeders who sell to brokers or pet stores have NO control over the kind of homes their babies are going too. To us, that is unexceptable. People who buy from brokers or pet stores have No insight as to the pups personality, its parents, or any way to contact the breeder, who is usually the best source for any questions. Our new puppy families will have a direct contact with us to discuss anything they want to discuss (health, house breaking, obedience training, etc.) Yes, like the brokers and the pet stores, we do charge money for our pups, but that is very secondary. Our goal is to help other families experience the blessings that our pets bring into our life each and every day. We do ask, that new owners keep in touch, and let us know how our "babies" are doing. You will have challanges come your way, every pup is unique. Most any behavior can be corrected if addressed quickly. Obedience training is an excellent place to start, in order to have a pleasant well mannered pet. Of all Gods creatures, the Dog was created as Man's closest animal companion. No other animal actually "lives" for their human counterpart. They are always there to offer their affections, their obedience, and their Love with no strings attached. The thing they want most in life is to be with their people. In many areas, search and rescue, patient therapy, arson / drug investigation, family protection, etc. the dog remains unmatched. No animal, other than the Dog, will lay their life down to protect their masters. They truly are one of Gods Finest Earthly Gifts.
