| Litter Box Training-- This is the routine we suggest to help your puppy . Puppies need to get in the routine of “where” their box is and when to go. They may miss a few times, so be sure to put papers under the box. 1--Use a large dog kennel-aprox 24 x 36 or larger. 2--Put a large cat litter box ( NO lid or plastic liner) 3--Put just enough litter to cover the bottom of the box. 4--Your puppy has been started on using the litter box, but when changing homes they may forget, so be patient. Puppies are like Toddlers, they get busy and forget. 5--Place inside a bed and raised food and water dishes (attached to kennel) This is to be used as play pen for your puppy. Put the puppy in this kennel ever 30 minutes or so to establish a schedule to go potty. Use the kennel with litter box, in stead of taking him outside. Soon your puppy will learn that this is where he should go. As he gets older you can move it to a different location. When ever you can not watch your puppy put him there. The key to house breaking is to set a schedule and to avoid accidents. Refer to House Breaking tips for more information. |
